How we were formed
Crimson (Crimson UK Ltd.) is a leading document management services provider formed through the merger between Hi-Scan and MTL Document Services in November 2009. Crimson delivers outsourced or onsite document scanning and data capture services / solutions, across the UK to a range of public and private sector organisations.

Where are Crimson based?
Our Capture Services Centres in England and Scotland provide high-volume document scanning, microfilm scanning, book scanning and data capture / forms processing.

Our Business Consultants are based in Inverness, Glasgow, Greater Manchester and the Midlands.

What is our background?
Crimson’s heritage stretches back to 1977 when MTL was formed as a microfilm services bureau in Lancashire. The company expanded into the document-scanning sector following a successful management takeover in 1998. This team remains with Crimson.

Separately, Hi-Scan was formed in 1988 in Ross Shire offering data capture services to the oil and gas industry. Hi-Scan formed a track record of bidding for and delivering large volume scanning and data capture contracts for Central Government, including the General Registry of Scotland and National Archives of Scotland.

Where we are today
Crimson is a Kodak accredited Document Conversion Centre and certified to ISO9001:2008. Crimson is also an ABBYY Certified Data Capture Partner. The company has approximately 50 employees based at sites in Lancashire and Dingwall, with a further onsite operation in Cheshire. Our Dingwall operation runs 2 x 8 hour shifts and has the capacity to upscale to a 24 hour processing facility.

Where are we heading?
Crimson is committed to investing in and expanding its operations in Scotland and into the Midlands. We are acquisitive and keen to form strategic partnerships with document management companies, and specialist vertical operators.
